Our Ashburn footprint uses Linux routers with BIRD for BGP and route policy. Filtering is delivered within the upstream network before traffic reaches the local HYEHOST service edge.
The delivery method differs by region, but the objective is the same: filter attack traffic upstream and retain local control of BGP, forwarding and customer connectivity.
Transit and peering enter through the redundant aggregation and core. Two dedicated Debian router hosts run BIRD for BGP and VPP for forwarding, with each router connected across the resilient switching layer.
We do not hide the architectural differences between locations. Both regions remain part of AS47272 and are operated around the same priorities: predictable routing, native dual-stack connectivity and upstream protection.
Wolverhampton services use Corero-based detection and mitigation within the upstream network. Ashburn services use upstream traffic filtering before packets are delivered to the local Linux and BIRD edge.
Network-layer mitigation complements application security. Customers should still use firewalls, rate limits, patched software and secure authentication for their own workloads.
Wolverhampton has two dedicated routing machines and a redundant switching fabric. Ashburn uses a separate Linux and BIRD edge with upstream filtering. BGP reconvergence and regional operating procedures are designed around each topology.
In Wolverhampton, either dedicated Debian router can be removed from service while the remaining machine continues BGP and VPP forwarding.
The redundant Wolverhampton switching layer provides alternate paths between upstream connectivity, routers and customer services.
BIRD manages route advertisement and withdrawal so traffic can follow the remaining available path when connectivity changes.
