Resilience without pretending both regions are identical

Wolverhampton has two dedicated routing machines and a redundant switching fabric. Ashburn uses a separate Linux and BIRD edge with upstream filtering. BGP reconvergence and regional operating procedures are designed around each topology.

Router host failure

In Wolverhampton, either dedicated Debian router can be removed from service while the remaining machine continues BGP and VPP forwarding.

Core path failure

The redundant Wolverhampton switching layer provides alternate paths between upstream connectivity, routers and customer services.

BGP reconvergence

BIRD manages route advertisement and withdrawal so traffic can follow the remaining available path when connectivity changes.
